Fleecing Larrys on his 21st

Today is a pretty awesome birthday shout out. Yes, my little brother Sam, aka Sam Bam to some and my cell phone, is turning 21. As of 5:15pm, his liver had not shut down, which is a good sign. I think him having class until later today helped keep that in tact.

So Sam is, in short, awesome. And has a sometimes ridiculous life. This is both good ridiculous and bad ridiculous. Here are some highlights:

--He is the person my blog is named after.
--He swears more than any trucker or sailor you know.
--He's accomplished a lot in his life in a short 21 years.
--He's almost fought a homeless man in an alley Tired and Emotional, as well as getting kicked out of the Middle East Nightclub.
--He made his own Halloween costume by taking a sharpie on a Hanes shirt and drawing the Superman logo on it.
--He can fall asleep anywhere in any position.
--He loves singing.
--He's one of the few people in the world who actually hates Tom Hanks.
--He owns more shirts than I do.
--He's awesome, and I'll take 6 hours out of my life any weekend to drive him back to college.
--He sends me funny texts about how I'm a ho bag in India.

I could continue, but I feel that this is also me just going on and on about how awesome my brother is. Wait, I lie. That's exactly what this post is. But he's worth it.

So a big happy birthday to my little brother and much love from your older sister.

I'm on a boat, and looking a little bit like Heat Miser.

Out and about

Movin' right along, foot-loose and fancy free.
Gettin' there is half the fun; come share it with me.

Tomorrow will be a big day of work, mainly because I'll be doing something I've never done before at my job. I am being sent to train an institution on site with a Sales Rep. I've done a lot of training for my job in the past, but I've always done it via a web conferencing software. So this is big.

I got asked to do this about a month or so ago, and I can't believe this day is already here. I've been researching the site and the customer, as well as getting a script ready. I also made several press kits they can take home with them, and have posters and magnets. Lots of fancy pants swag.

I'm both nervous and excited. Excited because this is a big step and responsibility, and a change I think I could use. Nervous, though, because this is outside of what I usually do. I'm going with one of my favorite Sales Rep, which I'm looking forward to. I had a test run of the training, and it went well and I got some very good feedback to use for tomorrow.

So it'll be a day of the open road (The Mass Pike) and talking directly to the people and the children about how to research DIY projects and career and college paths they want to take. Here's to hoping it goes well!

Oh, and any interesting stories I do plan on blogging about when I get home. But tomorrow it'll be a quiet day on HPFS and twitter since I'll be away.

Oh, and then following this training I'm going to 99 cent hot dog day at Top Dog with the family. Good times!

Another 300 mile weekend

My leasing company will kill me, but I had another 300 mile weekend.

Saturday I drove to Rockport and back for Nikki and Jeff's engagement party. It was pretty good, nice to see people. It was semi formal, which is a lot of "what the hell do I wear???" before going there. Then I spent some time with the rents.

Sunday, out of the blue, I found out Sam was stuck in Rockport and needed a drive back to school, so I offered. I always like having brother bonding with Sam. I want to be a good big sister, and I think I am, but I figure I should take every chance I can get. So it was 5 hours round trip, but good to help out Sam.

We talked a lot about my dad's side of the family, and all the weight of that. We also commented on how there's literally nothing notable or impressive about Massachusetts to the west of 495. Seriously, time forgot about it, and so should we! (I kid... kind of)

I can't wait to see what Cambridge Honda says when I have my service appointment on Saturday. They may kill me for 2 300 mile weekends in two months...
