I have been knitting

Ohhhh have I been knitting.

I have a lot of projects and gifts for people to finish. Right now, the count is at:

9 baby hats
2 lace scarves
1 wool scarf
something secret for Ricky

Yeah...

But, in spite of this, I wanted to finish up my "2009 Scarf". Every year I make myself a scarf. Last year was my long striped one, which I will still live in, since I love it. But this year, I wanted something a bit more subtle and with my new yarn love, Noro. I found a bunch of those Noro striped scarves online, but the colors were a bit much for me. So I decided to use the self-striping Kuryeon and match it with the solid and understated Cascade 220 in a gray. The result?

Is pretty awesome.

I wore the scarf while visiting friends in Portsmouth and while Ricky and I were picking apples in Ipswich. It's very warm and didn't scratch. While making it I was worried that I was losing too much of the colors, but in the sunlight the effect is exactly what I wanted.

So in short, I LOVE THIS SCARF.

Safe Travels

Bon voyage and iced coffee for all.

Last week, my dear friend Jess and her boyfriend Ross hit the road (or air, rather) for their big adventure around Europe and parts of Africa. They've been planning this for months, and are both very excited that this day has arrived.

Jess is a traveler and gets antsy if she's in the same place for long, so this makes sense. I will miss her terribly, but I think these experiences are exactly what the two of them need. And I love hearing good stories and seeing good pictures, so I cannot wait for that part.

So this is just a little post to say "Fare thee well" and all that.

9-19-09: Mike and Christine get married!

Let's get on track, people.

So this past weekend, I went to Mike and Christine's wedding aka The Wedding Formerly Known As The iPod Wedding (TWFKASIW? Maybe not). I can safely say this was the most beautiful and touching wedding I've ever been to.

The couple wrote their own vows, which had the whole audience tearing up. Then the reception was, in a word, kick ass. Lots of dancing. Scallops wrapped in bacon. Pie. So much pie.

Oh, and the iPod wedding part. So Not only did I take too long making a CD, but the couple decided to treat us to a very awesome funk cover band. And they were awesome. So no complaints here. I'll paste my final CD list below some wedding pictures:

The happy couple leaving the beach.

9-12-09: Lesley gets married!

Let's start with the most recent (and most fun) and work our way backwards.

So last Saturday, I returned to my little playtown to see one of my oldest friends get married. I was very touched and honored to get an invite. It was a sweet and charming ceremony in the oh so beautiful Rockport Golf Club. Then there was some chicken to be eaten and some dancing to be done.

Oh and did I mention my best friend from elementary school was there out of the blue?! Freaking. AWESOME.

Here are some pics from me and from the professional photographer's site. PS, if I ever get married, I'm calling her.

Here are some of mine from the ceremony and the reception dance-off.

Announcing the new married couple.

Me and Les

My favorite dancing shot of the evening.

And here are some from the professional photographer, who is amazing.

Post-ceremony.

And then it seems she came back the day after to do some shots with Lesley and Todd, because their wedding was at night and it was pouring and gross out, whereas the next day was beautiful and sunny. So the rest of the album on her site is made up of the two of them being cute all around Rockport. This was my favorite of those shots.

Bad Blogger, Bad!

I've been gone for about a week and a half now, but for legit reasons. Mainly because it's been bat-shit crazy around here. But my apartment is all set up and charming, one of the four weddings has been attended, and a few more famous people have died. I really hope to touch on all of these subjects. And soon.

Oh, and I went to Sonic and it was glorious.

Oh, and to top it all off

Today is the day I'm going to Sonic with Dianne, Danielle, and Jennie. Di and I have been reviewing the menu and discussing meal options.

In TBTL Call Maker heaven

We'll remember almost two months ago when I experienced what I dubbed Call Maker Sadness. I received the call, and botched it when I thought "who would be calling me at 11:30pm on a Wednesday?" and sent it to Voicemail.

Well last night, I was redeemed. I was in bed when I see I'm getting a call at11:30 at night. I ask Ricky if he thought I should pick up, and he said go for it...

...and yes...

...IT WAS TBTL!

It was a glorious 8 1/2 minute conversation about songs to play at wedding receptions. It was all very surreal and out of body. I think my voice is too high and a little pitchy, but I think I held my own pretty well. I'm also now on the website with The Zombies song I'm a fan of, and so others can provide other suggestions. Hoorah!

And yes, I am about 100% sure I'll be making a "RAWR!" sign and taking pictures of it at the wedding.

And here's the song I love and will have on the CD/will be featured heavily at my wedding.
